Irma did a number on us all. It is said that geese will often avoid a hurricane by flying beyond its reach. That did not happen so much with Irma with the width of this monster storm. Hey, even people trying to evacuate Irma often moved closer not knowing the direction it was going. I have only seen one family of geese this week and they were in Kingsland eating tall grass along HWY 40. But, the resilience of this magnificent bird will be visible very soon. If you have a Irma story or a goose/Irma story I would love to hear it.
Did you know geese can fly upside down? During flight, geese can twist their necks to flip their bodies upside down, while keeping their heads upright. They will do this to avoid predators like hawks and even to avoid a strong wind. It allows them to lower their altitude in a big hurry.

I'm a wanna be writer but until recently only dabbled with personal stories and illustrations. My true joy is my relationship with God and family. Then comes the Christian music and technology. I am retired and occasionally work part time but when not too occupied I'm writing a book that I call Goose Freedom. Archives
