Michael Stokes was born August 1, 1953 to Emory Lewis and Lottie Pearl Huggins Stokes in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Siblings followed in 1956 and 1957 by the names of Steve and Angie. Michael graduated Fitzgerald High School in 1971, attended ABAC, eloped with Teresa and then graduated with a A.A. in Music from Brewton Parker College in 1974 and a B.S. in Church Music from Dallas Baptist College in 1976. After serving several Southern Baptist Churches as Minister of Music and Youth. He got interested in computer technology and started a part-time business in 1994 and transitioned to a Technology Specialist in public education in 2000. A heart attack in 2008 brought on emotions that created a desire to write and the short stories started flowing. As retirement approached Michael wrote less until he discovered a goose that needed help to survive and so the story Goose Freedom was born. Now living in Kingsland, GA the desire to write grew again and encouragement from neighbors and students provided a spark to make Goose Freedom a reality.
